What does God require in the fourth commandment?
First, the ministry of the gospel and the schools must be maintained. Especially on the Sabbath, the day of rest, I must diligently attend the church of God to hear His Word, use the sacraments, publicly call upon the Lord, and contribute to the relief of the poor.
Second, all the days of my life I must turn from my evil works and yield myself to the Lord to work in me by His Holy Spirit, and so begin in this life the eternal Sabbath.
